Stumbles and pickups

So, on Friday the wife had surgery...everything went as planned, however from my standpoint, I snacked pretty poorly all day. Breakfast was an omelet, lunch I had a salad, but added a cookie and when the wife got out and was moving around we went and had Chinese food (sweet & sour pork, fried rice, fried noodles and fried shrimp). Pretty bad day.

Saturday wasn't much better, I had 3 pieces of pizza and felt so bad about it that I didn't eat anymore.

Sunday, I had a "slim fast" in the morning, sandwich in the afternoon I had sushi at a sushi bar...didn't eat too much too, but I did have a serving of calamari.

Although my diet has been up and down and my weight hasn't moved, I did have a bit of encouragement on Saturday, by shaving 31 seconds off my mile time as compared to Monday's run and 36 seconds off of my original time. Today, I've had a Subway club w/ a diet coke and later on had a slim fast...I have no clue what I'm doing for dinner, but I'll make sure to tone it down as compared to the last few days and try to gain some stability.

Running short on time.

From Monday:

I got about ten minutes to post...but today's gone well. I had a turkey bacon/egg white sandwich breakfast sandwich in the morn with my latte, a turkey sandwich with a sugar free pudding for lunch and a lean cuisine pizza and a can of soup for dinner.

I ran short on working out, buy my times were a little better. One thing I want to know is some exercises for my legs and gluts. Squatting scares me! LOL. Although, I won't be doing that for a few days, as I tweeked my left calf :-( Should be fine...you won't catch me sitting on the sideline looking like a sad Darth Vader :-p

Tail Between My Legs

So, there's probably no one left to view my blog, as anyone who ever skimmed it before noticed that I fell off the face of the earth. My big ass fell pretty hard too. I essentially gave up. After Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, I found myself where most people do: 10 lbs. chubbier.

During this time, I was given plate full of cookies, bowls full of candy, beer and other plates of various sweets. Of course, I took it...not their fault for giving it out, it was a nice gesture.

It was a few days before Christmas when I was sitting at my desk, gnawing on a cookie when I realized I can't keep going like this. I could feel my ass getting wider as I sit at work...A co-worker of mine had started up working out like a machine and I noticed that she was a little more energetic at work and said she'd shed a pants' size. The surprising part is that she didn't change much in her eating habits! That part still baffles me. I digress though.

So, to fast-forward to now, the last month or so, I've kept a close watch on my diet and started working out a few weeks ago. I'm back at square one, weighing a still hefty 300 even. I haven't been counting calories, but I've been able to eat in a way that I think is sensible. Some examples have been eating breakfast which consist of usually eating a bowl of oatmeal, a granola bar w/ some "Slimfast," or some toast w/ a reasonable amount of pbj. Lunches are usually a turkey sandwich or a can of Progresso's "Healthy Choice" soups. Dinner really varies, of course, but the best I've done is a chicken breast, rice and some steamed veggies. The worst I've done is two pieces of Hawaiian pizza and a bottle of beer.

So, the component that was missing my last go around at weight loss was exercise. I've been putting an hour or so into my schedule 3-4x's a week to work out. It's nice that work has a facility and showers for a mere $5/mo! What I've been doing is hitting the treadmill for 20 mins, doing 3 sets of 8-12 reps on three different types of weights and finishing off with a steady incline on the elliptical machine for 25-30 mins. This is where I want to improve. I really want to push it to 30 mins on the treadmill, but damn, by the time 20 mins comes around, I'm done! The sad thing is, I'm not even running the entire time... :(

I have been trying to keep track of my mile time. It's an encourager for when I'm not seeing a difference in my weight. Ultimately, I could care less of how I look physically, but rather how I feel and am able to endure physically challenging situations (like climbing up a trail without stopping and telling others to go ahead), physical looks is just a big plus for me...that and not shopping in the fat guy section.

I'll include my weight and times each time I post, which I'll keep up to 1-2 times a week.

Those are:
300.5 lbs.
12:50 mile time.
